Crown of Thorns

Genesis describes the transformation of the earth after the fall of man. Working the land became difficult and plants started producing thorns as a result of sin.

During his trial and crucifixion Jesus was forced to wear a crown of thorns as a form of painful ridicule — mocking his claim to be a king. But we can see the crown as a symbol of his taking our sin upon himself.

Our sin produced the thorns that became his torture. In spite of his pain we can see the true love of God reflected in the eyes of Jesus.
